2011's game 6 had the same type of back and forth excitement that took over 1960's game seven when the Pirates beat the Yankees as well as when the Red Sox beat the Reds in game 6 of the 1975 series. The Cardinals were down to their final strike, similar to the Mets when they beat the Red Sox in game 6 of the 1986 series. The only difference is the Cardinals were down two runs in consecutive innings and were down to their last strike in both innings. And of course, the walk off home run which happened in 1960, 1988, 1993 as well as other times.
So where does this game rank? I say some where in the middle of 1986 game 6, 1960 game 7 and 1975 game 6. It could be the top game. It had the walk-off home run that 1960 game 7 and 1975 game 6 had. The Cardinals were down to their last strike, like the 1986 Mets in game 6, but two consecutive innings. Let me know which game was the best of all-time. Maybe I missed one. But the truth remains, last night's game 6 was as good as any World Series game ever.
