In the AL East, the New York Yankees were given a number of 93.5. They finished at 95 wins. I predicted 95 wins before the season started. The same cannot be said about the Baltimore Orioles. Their number was 69.5 and I predicted the under at 69. The Orioles finished with 93 wins and the over, by quite a bit.
The Tampa Bay Rays were given the number of 87. They finished over at 90, which coincidently was the same number I predicted before the season started. The Toronto Blue Jays had 80 as their number and I predicted the under at 78. They actually finished under that at 73.
One of the biggest disappointments of the season was the Boston Red Sox. Given their number of 89.5, many, including myself were inclined to take the over. I reluctently did, resulting in being very off in my prediction. They finished with 69 wins, while I had them at 93. Ironically, my Orioles and Red Sox predictions switched places with me having the Red Sox with 93 and the Orioles at 69. Of course, the Orioles finished with 93 and the Red Sox 69.
Through the first five teams, my record was 3-2. Recap: Yankees over, Orioles over, Rays over, Blue Jays under, Red Sox under.
