Out of the entire American league, The Western division went the most opposite of plan. Nobody had the Oakland Athletics winning the division. The Texas Rangers, despite winning 93 games, were disappointment down the stretch. Just as disappointing, were the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. A better second-half, could not get them in the postseason.
The Athletics over under was 71. They obviously blew past that with their 94 wins. I, cluelessly, had the Athletics winning just 61 games being amongst the worst teams in the league. Though I was right with the Rangers not being as strong as they were last season, they still won 93 games which was more than I had predicted. They made the over, while I had the under. The Rangers over – under was 91 1/2. The angels over under, Was 92 1/2. I predicted they would finish over that, but they finished under with 89 victories. I was right on with the Seattle Mariners.
