Throughout last nights game one in Baltimore, the game had every sign of being in Orioles victory. The Orioles fans filled Camden Yards like nothing over the past 15 years. Starting pitcher Jason Hammel, who's outstanding first half was one of the stories behind Baltimore's Cindarella, seem to be extremely hittable. However, Yankees seemed unable to cash in on their opportunities. As the game went on tied 2-2, most watching the game were expecting to see another Baltimore walk off.
One of the main strength of the Orioles this season has been the unbelievable performance of their bullpen. Even Yankee fans were concerned as the game moved on into the late innings. Obviously the Yankees five run 9th sent the fans home disappointed. My concern is what a loss like this does to the heart of a team. The Orioles look at tonight's game as an absolute must win as the final three games of the best-of-five series will be played at Yankee Stadium. The Orioles will have little chance if any going to the Bronx down 2-0.
This is been a season full of surprises. While the Orioles being in the postseason made the defy logic, they have earned a place in the postseason. However, the way game one panned out, the Orioles had to come out with a victory to have a chance of pulling the series off. Especially the way to game transpired. To be tied through eight innings went CC Sabathia matched up against Jason Hammel made it more of a must win. The Orioles will be lucky to be in the same situation and game two. But stranger things have happened. Now it's on the Yankees, to do what they should do and put this series away.
