Usually when two team match up in the World Series, the thought is "How much could I have made if I bet on oneLooking at Las Vegas odds of winning the 2011 World Series, you actually would have put yourself in a better gambling position if you laid down the money on September 1st rather than when the betting lines opened before the season started. Opening odds had the Rangers at 8-1 odds coming off a World Series appearance last year and the Cardinals at 20-1. May 1st odds moved up Texas 12-1 and St.Louis 25-1. June 1st the Rangers odds went to 20-1 and the Cardinals odd went down to 15-1. July 1st the Rangers odds went down to 15-1 and the Cardinals went back up to 22-1. August 1st Texas' odds went down to 13-2 while the Cardinals remained at 22-1. September 1st the Rangers went down to 11-1 and the Cardinals jumped to 100-1! Still a better bet for the Rangers then when things opened. (8-1) But the Cardinals on 9/1 had a 5 times less chance of winning the World Series. In case you were wondering Texas is the slight favorite at 10-11 while St. Louis is 3-2 right now. The Yankees opened with 5-1 odds while the Mets opened at 50-1. The Milwaukee Brewers were 65-1, insane right? Hopefully the folks who put their money on the Brewers enjoyed their dreams while they lasted.
